How To Make Celery Juice

Let us show you how to make Celery Juice the right way. Celery Juice is super popular due to it's amazing nutritional value.

According to nutrition experts, Celery Juice is rich in antioxidants, helps to flush out toxins, contains anti-inflammatory properties, supports hydration and may even help with skin conditions. What's not to love about Celery Juice!

Which Appliance Makes The Best Celery Juice

Whilst it is possible to make Celery Juice in a standard kitchen blender, we do not recommend this method. You will get a much better product using a Slow Juicer a.k.a. masticating juicer.

Because of the slow speeds and gentle squeezing action there is less heat, less oxidation, more enzymes and more goodness. And it tastes better!

Whilst it is possible make Celery Juice very quickly in a Centrifugal Juicer, we do not recommend this. The speed is too fast and caused oxidation of the juice. Centrifugal Juicer made juice will not last long in the fridge and will not taste as good as Celery Juice made in a Slow Juicer.

You should use a Slow Juicer a.k.a. Masticating Juicer for making your Celery Juice.

Key Steps in Preparation

Celery stalks are very stringy, and the strings will block most juicers in no time. Especially Vertical Juicers, with their large screens. To avoid blockage, you should chop your celery into lengths about the same width as your little finger.

In doing so, most juicers will be able to allow the strings to run through the juicer without blocking them. This will save you heaps of time in the long run.

Full Preparation Steps

  1. Cut off the base - just the white ends, which will be enough so the celery stalks will separate easily.
  2. Cut off the celery leaves.
  3. Chop into narrow pieces (say 1cm)
  4. Rinse in the sink in a colander to remove foreign matter - dirt, bugs etc.
  5. Soak in fresh water to remove impurities such as pesticides. A 20 minute soaking in a large tub would be ample.

Ingredients to Add to Your Celery Juice

Personally I like to drink celery juice fresh, as soon as it is made. No added ingredients whatsoever. But here are some suggestions to make your celery juicer even yummier. Add a single ingredient, or try them all together - experimenting with your juicing is half the fun!

  1. Have some ice cubes on hand. It is nice to cool down the juice for a cool, refreshing drink.
  2. Add an apple to give your celery juice sweeter and more fruity flavor.
  3. Add a peeled cucumber to give your celery juice a smoother flavor and texture.
  4. Add a small amount of ginger to give your Celery Juice some zing!

Storing Your Celery Juice

If you followed our recommendation and made your Celery Juice in a Cold Press Juicer, good news! Your yummy fresh Celery Juice will store in the refrigerator for up to 72 hours. I recommend storing in an air tight container in the fridge. As an added bonus, it is even yummier once chilled :)
